  • 1 tbsp light soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp sake rice wine
  • 5g five spice powder
  • 1 pinch black pepper
  • 150g red pepper
  • 100g mange tout
  • 140g courgette
  • 117g carrots
  • 180g mushrooms
  • 65g onions
  • 30g red chilli pepper
  • 28g ginger root
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 242 beef steak, medallion
  • 300g basmati rice
  • 10 sprays sunflower oil
  • 10g cornflour
  • 100ml chicken stock
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce


  1. Mix light soy sauce, rice wine and 5 spice together with a pinch of black pepper.
  2. De-seed and slice peppers. Thinly slice, mange tout, courgette, carrot, mushrooms, onions and chilli. Peel and finely chop ginger and garlic.
  3. Thinly slice beef and marinade in soy sauce mix for at least 30 mins. 
  4. Cook rice in boiling water as packet instructs.
  5. While rice cooks, spray oil into a wok, fry onions, ginger and garlic until softening. 
  6. Add red pepper and chilli, stir. Add rest of vegetables.
  7. Add beef and fry for 1 minute.
  8. Dissolve cornflour in a little water to make a paste. 
  9. Add 100ml chicken stock, dark soy sauce, and cornflour paste and stir until thickened. 
  10. Serve over rice.
