Background Information

Weight Loss Resources was founded in 2001, the first UK site to provide a calorie and nutrition database and food diary tools to help people lose weight.

The wlr programme is run in line with NHS NICE guidelines: Weight management: lifestyle services for overweight or obese adults. You can view the guidelines on the NICE website

Partnerships and Projects

We have often been invted to partner with and/or contribute to projects within the weight loss and health field. From providing information and tools for clinical weight loss studies, to full software.

We provided calorie and nutrtion data for use in a series of clinical research studies by Leeds University. The wlr program and tools were also used as part of the trials.

We produced the websites and tools for for ITV's The Biggest Loser UK and Cook Yourself Thin for Channel 4. Our food database, services, and products are used by GP surgeries, weight loss clinics, dietitians and personal trainers throughout the country.

Awards and Recognition

Nutrition & Health Live Awards

An annual event acknowledging those working in the diet and health industry, we were presented an award as special recognition to highlight the standard of our tools, database, and the advice and information we give.

National Customer Service Awards

These awards are supported by The Society of Consumer Affairs Professionals, the Institute of Customer Service, and the WOW! Awards. They are designed to promote excellence in customer service, for which the wlr helpteam received a high commendation.

Zest for Life Awards

These awards were running annually by Zest magazine in the UK. We were winners of the best Health and/or Fitness Website. Alas Zest mag is no longer with us!
