How does the diet delivery work?

After deciding on a premade meal plan and calorie allowance, you order for one of the time periods shown or you can opt for a longer period if you wish.

You then receive a food hamper to last between 7-5 days along with a guide on how to set up each meal. The food is delivered in pre-packaged bags and ice packed boxes all weighed out to ensure the correct calories each day.

The meals will include things such as side salads, tubs of uncooked pasta and ready to microwave meats or curries that need to be cooked separately then combined to form your whole meal.

The only things you will need to add is milk and water, unless you are between their preset calorie allowances, in which case you may need to add snacks.

The theory is simple; to lose weight, simply eat what is allocated for each day.

Once you are on a plan, you can 'plan hop' as you go along and change meals if you come across anything you don't like.

How many calories do I get with Bodychef?

The options are 1000, 1200, 1600, 2000 and 2500 calories.

Before you go ahead and order you have to open an account which asks you questions about your height, activity levels and current weight to determine your calorie allowance.

You are then sent a diet report with your BMI, calories needed to lose weight etc. Using this, you can work out which calorie option to go for.

But if you are between their options (1500 for example) you will need to add your own snacks to your daily intake. This would be difficult to track without a food diary and could scupper your chances of weight loss.

A typical Bodychef menu

Users select the plan they want to follow and the length of time they want to order for. The system then selects the hamper to send.

You can add food exclusions to your profile so those foods won't be included in your hamper.

No, unlike Weight Loss Resources, there is no free trial. Any questions can be answered via their telephone service.

Will Bodychef work for me?

Following the correct, calorie-counted meal plan will certainly lead to weight loss but spending £15.98 per day it is not possible for many people.

Body Chef allows customers to make alterations to their menus as much as they like. They can accommodate for allergies to wheat, dairy and gluten if needed.

So if you need this to be done for you Body Chef would be a good option for that.

Following one of the 3, 4, or 5 day plans for their short time period might be a good idea to get the weight shifting temporarily and get your motivation moving but for long term healthy weight loss it just seems too expensive.

If you are short of time, then you may struggle with this plan as there is a certain amount of microwave cooking and ‘assembly’ involved.

The Bodychef dinners are all ready prepared, but you would still have to cook the pre-weighed pasta and your pre-washed veggies before cooking your bolognese in the microwave!

The Bodychef provides three meals a day with the additional fresh fruit and snacks in between, depending on your calorie requirement. The plans also give you the amount of calories you require to achieve a healthy steady weight loss while retraining your eating habits.

Therefore, as long as you eat everything that the Bodychef provides you for each day, it is ultimately your choice as to how you spread your food intake throughout the day.

You’ll need to buy approximately 3/4 pint of skimmed or semi-skimmed milk for teas, coffees and cereals. Alcohol is not recommended

How much weight could I lose?

Bodychef says that you can expect a healthy weight loss of up to 2lbs a week.
