Weight Loss History
Never ‘dieted’ before as always had a fast metabolism until
started working full time after University, sitting in an office
all day with a culture of bringing in chocs and sweets to share
on a daily basis!
Have you lost weight before
and regained the weight?
Never needed to lose weight before, came as quite a shock! I
had always been the ‘Twiggy’ of our gang and ate more or less
what I fancied. Serves me right, eh??
How being overweight has affected you…
Always had a really busy lifestyle, lots of socialising and
enjoyed being able to wear fashionable clothes to go out in.
Realised my favourite outfits were starting to dig in and there
was too much hip in my hipsters – not a good look! Although I
wasn’t overweight for my height I have a small frame and felt
self-conscious with my weight gain. I also attend dance classes;
a little extra weight can make you feel pretty sluggish during
fast, energetic freestyle disco routines.
Motivation to Lose Weight
Christmas parties – lots of new clothes and being able to
wear anything I want with no unwanted lumps and bumps other than
those my wonderbra gives me!!
Discovering Weight Loss Resources
I ‘Googled’ Weight Loss and was horrified by the price of
some other well-known weight loss groups for their online
service. Then I found WLR, did the free trial and was hooked!
Value for money indeed!
How Weight Loss Resources Helps
I am a veggie and I didn’t realise some of my so-called
healthy veggie options were not so healthy i.e. ready meals,
quiche etc. Using WLR has made me much more aware of what I am
eating. Without making dramatic changes I have been able to lose
weight i.e. swapping olive oil for light spray oil, ready meals
for quorn and fresh veg and quiches for low fat houmous. Breakfast
is now porridge and bagels instead of sugary kid’s cereals and
toast.
I am also much more aware of my consumption of food types,
pleasantly surprised to see I eat more protein and fruit and veg
than I thought I did as a veggie. An all round education into
dietary needs!
The Best of Weight Loss Resources
I find the message boards a great help. Everyone was so
pleased for me when I reached my first weight goal even though
it wasn’t a big loss. The Help Team are proper troopers as well
sourcing my strange food requests (I have a varied palate!).
Jane's Tips for Losing Weight
Record it all, even if it blows your allowance. You will feel
much better for being honest with yourself.
You’ll be surprised at what counts as exercise, so record all
that too.
I was very pleased to discover how many calories dancing
burns off, another excuse for a night out!
No question is stupid, everyone is happy to help and full of
useful tips.
There were times when I’d lost nothing for weeks and thought
perhaps I had reached the weight I was meant to be, but I
persevered and I am glad. You can do it!! You just need to keep
sight of your goal whilst taking one day at a time and not being
discouraged if things aren’t always easy.
