Get Fruity and Veg It Up
THIS CHALLENGE IS NOW CLOSED and the winners will be posted shortly.
To coincide with World Cancer Research Fund’s Fruity Friday (15th May) and the Vegetarian Society’s National Vegetarian Week (18-24 May), WLR has decided to launch a fruity challenge to help you get to your 5-a-day.
The idea is to get at least five portions of fruit and veg into your diet each day over the next two weeks, starting on Friday 15th and tell us how you are doing on the Get Fruity and Veg It Up Challenge message board.
We want your fruity ideas, hints and tips for getting more fruit and veg into your diet. Post your ideas on the Get Fruity and Veg It Up Challenge message board in the forum, along with your own progress, over the next two weeks and the top 3 inspiring ideas will win their owners a tasty exotic fruit basket from Fruit-4u.

Everyone knows that, for a healthy diet, we should be eating at least five portions of fruit and veg a day. But, how many of us actually manage that?
A diet including a decent amount of fruit and vegetables has all sorts of health benefits:
- Fruit and veg contain lots of Vitamins like Vitamin C and E and Folic Acid – all essential for the body to function yet, it can’t make them itself
- Rich in antioxidant nutrients
- Full of fibre
- Low in fat
- Low in Calories
- Linked to lower blood pressure, to preventing heart disease and some cancers
- Linked to healthy eyes, fewer wrinkles and even pain relief
You could:
- Try a bit of fruit that you’ve seen in the Supermarket but never bought
- Do something different with the vegetables that you normally buy (Check out the Recipe Database for some ideas)
- Try a vegetarian recipe that you’ve not thought of trying before (Loads of ideas in the WLR Recipe Database)
- Come up with a new recipe
Whatever it takes to get more fruit and veg into your diet – and then tell us about it on the Get Fruity and Veg It Up message board in the forum.
Not only will you be making sure your diet is really healthy but you’ll be inspiring others with your fab ideas. So, get cracking and take a closer look at fruit and veg and what YOU can do with them!
Good Luck!
