Eating Out – Chinese

Here are a few guidelines to steer you in the right direction…

Helpful Hints

  • Start with a lettuce wrap or spare ribs, rather than deep fried appetisers like sesame prawn toast or spring rolls
  • Share portions of boiled rice as opposed to fried rice and noodles
  • If you have a penchant for sweet and sour, ask for it to be served with chicken or fish which is not fried in batter
  • Fill up with crispy stir-fried vegetables
  • Crispy duck is not a bad choice, especially if you load your pancake with cucumber and spring onion and go easy on the duck.

Avoid

  • Prawn crackers - are fried and therefore contain a lot of fat
  • Chow mein dishes, which are high in calories - choose chop suey or stir-fried food instead
