Is VAT Cut Being Passed on by Online Services?

Consumers spend money on lots of things that don't come off retail shelves, many from small businesses and many on the web. In a lot of cases the public don't know if VAT is included in the price of the goods/services they are buying or not.

Staff at online weight loss service (for which members pay a £9.95 monthly fee), noticed that discussion of the VAT cut on their message boards did not include whether the cut would lower their subscription fee.

Fortunately, in spite of systems issues that will need to be addressed, Directors at the small company have opted to do the right thing and pass on the cut from December the 1st. This will slim down the monthly subscription cost by 18p to £9.77.

It will be interesting to see how many other web based services actually pass on the cut.
