Celeriac Cheese Bread

Ingredients

170 g Flour, White, Self Raising, Average

4 Onion/40g Spring Onions, Fresh, Raw, Unprepared, Average

1 Serving/100g Cheese, Lancashire, Tesco*

1 Egg/56g Eggs, Large, Average

2 fl oz/60ml Milk, Semi Skimmed, Average

0.1 Tsp/0.18g Pepper, Cayenne, Ground

1 Tsp/5g Salt, Table, Average

180 g Celeriac, Raw, Average

Method

 

Preheat the oven to 190 C , Gas 5.

  1. Sift the flour into a large bowl, add the chopped spring onions, cayenne pepper and salt to taste.
  2. Peel and grate the celeriac, add to the bowl along with the crumbled cheese (reserving some of the cheese for the top) and mix together.
  3. Beat together the egg and milk, gradually adding it to the mixture. Using a palette knife mix until it resembles a rough loose dough.
  4. Shape into a round and place on a greased baking tray. Sprinkle with a little cheese and flour.
  5. Bake for 40-45 minutes in the centre of the oven until golden.
  6. Serve warm.
