Dieting History

Most recently I went to Slimming World and did well for about 2½ years. I reached my then target weight of 11st 7lbs and maintained for about 15 months when my weight rose again and not matter how much I followed the plan I could not lose the gain. Previously I have tried the F Plan Diet, Low Fat Diets and Calorie Counting Diets (with a book and lots of maths; too much like hard work!).

Have you lost weight before and regained the weight?

Yes. Each time I have dieted I have lost weight but re-gained some though usually stayed within the range for my height. I put on a lot of weight after my husband died. He was only 56 and I felt so lonely and ate for comfort. I still do comfort eat but try to go for fruit.

How being overweight has affected you…

Being tall most people didn’t think I was overweight. I have a thin face and I think that’s all people see and assume the rest of me follows suit. I was unable to be as active as I like. Aching knees and back and breathing difficulties due to asthma. I also hated not being able to find nice clothes. I’m past the age of caring what others think so that wasn’t a problem for me.

Motivation to Diet

I have four adorable and adored grandchildren and want to be able to keep up with them. Also I am asthmatic and have high cholesterol so for health reasons it was important to lose weight.

Discovering Weight Loss Resources

A friend recommended the site to me.

How Weight Loss Resources Helps

Taking the hard work out of calorie counting and dieting. Putting everything down in the little jotter also makes me realise how many times I have a ‘little snack.’ Also the helpteam are great; so quick to answer queries. I have found the encouragement to exercise helpful and although I don't do anything very exciting I am walking more now.

The Best of Weight Loss Resources

I use the food diary mostly but also have enjoyed the message boards. I have never used them on any other site and really enjoy reading other people’s views. Wish there were a few more ‘ancients’ like me on there!

Gill's Dieting Tips

Just to keep reading everything like the Dietitian’s advice and exercise advice. The site confirmed that I eat quite healthily (a bit too much protein but not bad) and if I can stick to 3 meals and not have biscuits as snacks I should keep to my correct weight. The nibbles are my downfall in my diet from 7pm to bedtime.
