When we’re desperate to lose weight it’s easy to fall into bad habits to try to shift those pounds.

Hands up those of you who have tried the latest of the fad diets in the media spotlight, skipped meals, popped some herbal pill or even taken hormones in an attempt to lose weight and look good.

Although research into the popularity of faddy diets suggests that over 41% of us have realised that fad diets don’t work, it still means that over half of us will head down the ‘not so healthy’ road to weight loss.

The problem is that specialised and faddy diets don’t help much when it comes to learning how to manage your weight for life. Not to mention the fact that, in the long term, these fad diets and bad habits can seriously damage our health and looks and may also lead to a bigger weight problem.

Dietitian, Juliette Kellow BSc RD identifies the bad habits and fad diets that we often try to get slimmer and examines the side effects they have on our bodies.
